It functions identical to the three other whetstone items. Changing 0x339D71 in PS2 ram to 01 will enable it. In any case playing through the village quests should be a necessity to enjoy the Gathering Hub properly, which is to be considered "the main part" of the game.(Source: Original TCRF research) Unused Item FunctionalityĮarth Crystals are included in the IDs checked for whetstone functionality, but the Earth Crystal item itself isn't enabled to show up in the item bar for use. The correct statement would be: do not go straight away for Gathering Hub Quests unless you want to play multiplayer right away. It would contradict the game's own statement too much once you finished the village quests. I cannot imagine anyone would think Gathering Hub is for multiplayer only. In my opinion your thread's title "The Hub is not *meant* for multiplayer, it just allows it" is equally misleading the other way, though.īut I agree with you - if that is the case what you stated. Originally posted by Metaspark:This is a common misconception being spread by people familiar with the Village/Hub split in the past, please stop spreading it All you're doing is turning away players who clear the Village, shrug their shoulders at the "short" story and then drop the game entirely, missing out on a good 3/4 of the actual game So please, stop spreading this misinformation that you either have to be really good, or play with a group, to progress the Hub, because that is simply not true. If Hub monsters have 1x normal HP when playing solo, then Village monsters have like 0.4-0.7x normal HP. Likewise, in the Village, monsters are made even *easier*, as Village quests serve as an extended tutorial to help ease new players into the game. That same Rathalos's max HP will increase based on how many people join the hunt - it will also *decrease* if people leave the hunt, so don't worry if you get a full group and then immediately disconnect, you will be fighting a monster scaled for solo play (I recall this was one big contention with World's multiplayer) A Rathalos in Rise's Hub when playing solo is going to be relatively equal in difficulty to a Rathalos that you hunt solo in World. In the Hub, Monster HP scales based on how many people are in the hunt - including if you are by yourself. This is a common misconception being spread by people familiar with the Village/Hub split in the past, please stop spreading it
